As the Bishop Search & Transition process continues, the nomination by petition period is underway. In this ten-day petition period, anyone who meets the canonical requirements may petition to be added to the slate for the Ninth Bishop of the Diocese of California, in accordance with the rules and materials posted on the Bishop Search and Transition website. The petition period concludes on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
As set forth in the petition process, lay delegates who endorse a petition candidate must be voting delegates to the Special Electing Convention to be held on December 2.
The final slate, as approved by the Standing Committee, will be announced on October 27, 2023.
